I have been extremely busy lately, and I am coming to realize that not all plans I have made are doable in light of it. For example, my dreams of running a spring ultra-marathon are probably out the window. I am missing multiple training runs with the cold weather. This past week I even had to miss Non-Runner Nancy 9 on the 9th due to day long class and sore knees. I am probably going to give up the basketball to see if I can get my knees back into shape.
I have however signed up for my next competition, 801 Grand Power Climb. It is 630-foot ascent to the top of Iowa’s tallest building. I will be climbing 41 flights of stairs in full firefighter bunker gear (about 50 extra pounds) with my air mask on. I have committed to raising funds for the American Lung Association of Iowa. I figure I have a leg up on others in the field because I will still be well short of my high weight. If you would like to donate to my cause, please visit my fund-raising page.
In the interim, I am praying for warmer weather and better knees.
So sorry about the knees (and the damn cold weather!)
I’ve thought about that climb but I don’t really train on stairs so I thought it might be a bit much for me. Good luck with it!!
