I made the decision today to start the December Sweet Free challenge by Jimmy Moore.  The challenge as defined by me is no artificial sweeteners for the month of December.  There is one exclusion to the rule as I am going to be giving up Diet Coke with Splenda gradually.  For the first week, I will only be having 2 cans per day.  The second week will be down to one can per day.  The third week is the week of no soda at all.  In addition to this part of the challenge, I have also committed to no more than 2 oz of nuts per day and post a menu blog each day.  I may eat naturally sweetened fruits though like tomatoes or even a few strawberries throughout the challenge.  I don’t think Jimmy is going this far, but my challenge is about sweeteners (including Stevia) not acceptable fruits/melons/berries.

As I posted in my video post announcing the challenge, "For me the problem with nuts was not so much their nutrition or Caloric makeup, but it was the HOW I was eating them. I wasn’t hungry. It was simply a return to the grazing behavior of before. Out of control eating even on the best of foods (like prime rib or almonds) is not good."  So this challenge is about me getting back into control of my eating and eliminating the bad habits.

Hey Kent you crazy fool lol! No sweets, no diet drinks eeeeck! Actually tbh I don’t do the soft drinks much only when eating out. I would join you and Jimmy, but just low carbing is tough enough @ mo, (me needs to get back to the basics) :o ) What’s ya goal in all this btw? Because no goal means in times of trouble one may fall.

Good luck :o ) And of all times… xams lol!

My goal is simply to get and demonstrate control over my eating habits for the next month. There are no weight loss goals associated with this challenge because I am only 3 or 4 days away from goal if I start up my running plan like last night.

After 31 days of demonstrated control, we’ll see how quick I am to let the soda back in the door. As for Christmas time or not, it doesn’t make much difference. Being the only low carber at the moment in the household, the only one who benefits from the low carb treats is me, and not making them makes the holidays only easier to survive.
