I know I am the worst diet menu blogger ever

Just an affirmation, I am the worst diet menu blogger ever. I make no promises it is going to get better, but I am at least going try something different. Quick blogs with menus and exercise, no nutritional info etc. I may do that occassionally, but I think the two step process was killing it.

Breakfast: 1.5 cup Lettuce Salad, 6 oz Bacon, 2 TBS Caesar Dressing, .5 oz Parmesan Cheese, 1 can soda

Lunch – Worked through it

Snack – 2 oz Shelled Peanuts, 2 cans soda

Supper – 2 cups Lettuce Salad, .5 oz Bacon Bits, 1 TBS Buffalo Sauce, 2TBS Ranch, .5 oz Almonds, 3 oz Turkey Pastrami, 1 slice swiss

Snack – 1 cup Lettuce Salad, 6 oz Bacon, 2 TBS Creamy Italian Dressing, .5 oz Parmesan Cheese, 1 can soda

Exercise – 4.3 mile run

Wednesday 1/21/2009

Morning – No Breakfast

Lunch – Went to Lunch with the guys to a Mongolian BBQ (awesome type of restaurant for Atkineer) – 2 trips
6 oz Beef, 6 oz Chicken, 4 oz Pork, 1 cup peppers, 1 cup broccoli, 3/4 Cabbage, 1/2 cup Onions, 1/4 cup of Carrots, 1 TBS Szechuan Sauce, Garlic, Chili, and Sesame Oils

Supper: (had to rush off to kids’ Youth group)
3 oz of Chuck Roast

Exercise- 5.25 miles (9:20 pace ice slowed), 8 minute Abs, and planks)

Evening Snack – 3 oz Chuck Roast, Mock Danish

Tuesday – 1/18/2009

Last night was again another all nighter. I finally got to bed around 4 am in the morning. Needless to say, I didn’t get a full 8 hours of sleep, and it further was not helped by the page at 8:30. I rushed off to work and had planned for a good meal for lunch. That even fell through with a long network task over lunch hour. I finally had to cut it short at 12:50, so I could run to Wendy’s for 2 DoubleStack’s (no bun). It wasn’t the best day eating wise, but I at least ate right.

Morning: 2 oz Roast Beef, 2 oz Turkey, 1 oz slice Swiss

Lunch: 3 oz Roast Beef, 2 oz Turkey, 2 Double Stack, lettuce, 1/8 cup onion, 1 TBS mayo

Snack: Caesar Side Salad, 2 TBS Caesar dressing, 2 tsp Parmesan

Workout – 10 minutes Crosstrainer, 30 minutes elliptical trainer (resistance 12 our of 20)

Dinner: 1 cups lettuce, 1 TBS Parmesan, 1 TBS Bacon Bits, 2 TBS Caesar Dressing, 2 oz Summer Sausage, 8 oz Stuffed Hamburger (Ground Chuck, 1 oz Cheddar, 1/4 cup onion, 1TBS Bacon Bits)

Monday – 01/17/2009

One piece of good news is things are progressing really well in my fund raising for the America Lung Association in coordination with the 801 Power Climb Fire Fighters Challenge.  I have been doing a cookie sale recently at work with some very good Triple Chocolate Fudge and Brown Sugar Cookies.  Baking is interesting on Atkins because you really become dependent on a good recipe and good taste testers.

Mini-updates

I think I like this format better. I can update my thoughts whenever throughout the day, and then add the day’s food at the end. It works better as I am generally more clear headed in the day than right before bed. As I talked about in yesterday’s post, I bounced over 3 pounds up yesterday. Drinking water late at night and consequently different hydration levels were my suspected cause, but you always question it. I didn’t have that big of meal on Thursday.

The proof came with this morning weigh-in. After a pretty standard day of eating, I dropped 4 pounds. I didn’t do anything different except I ran outside in the -5F windchill rather than upstairs on the treadmill (with its hill workouts). I did have to break out the balaclava hat because in the first mile my nose and lips were going to fall off. I ran back home found the God send to all winter runners and finished off the run with another 3+ miles. Today’s weight loss makes me down 5 pounds for the week and proves once again don’t let your emotions be a slave to the scale. Too many other factors other than just eating can affect the amount.

My plans for the rest of the day since due to kids’ basketball games I can’t do my weekly Capital Striders’ group long run is to go for another 5 or 6 mile run in the balmy 20F heat wave. After that Laura should be home, and we will probably go out tonight to a sports bar to watch the UFC fights. They serve decent food — I’ll get a Caesar side salad, and then eat an order of Buffalo wings for the rest of night.

Mini-update

After I wrote last night’s post, I was called out to an EMS call. I never did get all my stretching in and arrived home well past 1 am in the morning. Complicating matters even worse was the diet pepsi (16 or so ounces) had in the Emer. Dept. while waiting for the paramedic. Not only did I not need the caffeine (kept me up for a bit) and the additional water in the system, it did likely cause the bump in the scale I saw this morning.

I was up 3 pounds this morning. Some of it was likely the not running or no cardio of yesterday, but some of it certainly had to do with the lack of sleep. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow weigh-in. This is just a reminder that you need to understand why the scale weight what they do and if you change the conditions (how much you drank or when), the results can’t really be compared.

Or at least there is an asterick. :-)

Thursday – 1/15/2009

I am down 4 pounds this week.   Today is an off day in terms of exercise, so we’ll see what the day off will do in terms of the scale tomorrow.  I had another awesome Atkins live show on Ustream.  Tonight’s episdoe was on Motivation and staying motivated to lose weight.  There was great interaction, and I was extremely pleased to see a lot of my low carb friends there.
